Blaina Heritage Action Group have just openned their new state of art museum. The museum displays the heritage and history of Blaina and the local area.
The facility includes brand-new displays including sections on the local coal and iron industries, chapels, schools, local celebrities, and a fully furnished reconstruction of a Victorian Welsh Kitchen.
They also hold local census returns from 1871 through to 1901 and cemetery records that are an important resource for genealogists a local history researchers.
There is also a wealth of information on local history and personal records, from Chartism to rugby -after all Blaina is the home of Grand slam hero Mike Ruddock.
Public Transport Directions
E4 Stagecoach buses running from Brynmawr calling at Ebbw Vale, Waunlwyd, Cwm, Aberbeeg, Abertillery and Bliana and Whinchestown before retuning to Brynmawr on a circular route.
The E3 Stagecoach bus runs the same route but in reverse.
X15 stagecoach buses running from Brynmawr to Cardiff and back again stops directly at Blaina while the X16 Stagecoach bus from Newport and risca ends at Abertillery where the X15 can be picked up.
