Aberbargoed Grasslands is a National Nature Reserve Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and it is also protected as a site of European importance for the large population of Marsh Fritillary butterflies and its Purple Moor grass and rush pasture.
Aberbargoed Grasslands are situated below the old Aberbargoed tip behind a housing estate. Follow Heol Tir-y-Lan, off Commercial Street in Aberbargoed to reach the site.

By Train: Nearest Station is Bargoed. Cross the Valley to Aberbargoed through Parc Coetir Bargod.
By car: Take the A4049 to Aberbargoed. Park along Heol Tir-y-Lan. Car parking is also available at the Education Centre and in the car park at Aberbargoed.
