Blaenavon Workmen’s Hall will host a unique, one-day FREE Family History Fayre on Saturday 22nd April, with a wealth of activities, talks and exhibitions all aimed at sharing some of Blaenavon’s rich history – including some of the legends of the industrial age, and give visitors a chance to get expert help in tracing their own genealogy.
Join us at the Blaenavon World Heritage Centre & Library throughout the Easter holidays where there will be lots of activities to keep all the family occupied. From Tuesday 11th April to Friday 21st April 11am – 4pm take part in our Easter Egg Hunt, use the picture clues to find the eggs placed around the centre and its grounds to solve the puzzle and win a prize. £1 per entry.

Big Pit Summer 2016
From Monday 25 July until Friday 5 August, (Monday- Friday only) 12pm-4pm, Miners’ Fortnight, which was the highlight of the summer for coalfield communities, will be awash with activities for children including, games, dressing up and crafts.
The Welsh Food Festival is back this summer, celebrating all the culinary delights from around the country.
The Fanzone will be situated at Ynysangharad War Memorial Park, Pontypridd, and will open to the public at 6.30pm on Friday, July 1.
The Industrial Revolution of the late 18th and 19th centuries was largely fuelled by the minerals hidden beneath the hills of South Wales. Thousands of people from across rural Wales, the rest of Britain and further afield flocked to find work in the South Wales Valleys' great iron, steel, copper, tinplate and coal industries and the ports along the Severn Estuary.
Barry Lewis has been working flat out on this summer’s installation and today is the day it was installed in Caerphilly.

A partial eclipse is where a percentage of the Sun is covered by the Moon. On March 20th, 2015 at 8.23am, a partial eclipse will begin and at 9.28am, the Sun will be approximately 86 per cent covered, meaning, in RCT, we can enjoy spectacular views.

Plans for a £7.7m Visitor Centre at The Royal Mint - the only one of its kind in the world - have been given the go-ahead by Rhondda Cynon Taf Council.
