DIY and home improvement becoming increasingly popular with money-savers

More than half of Brits claim they’re more likely to attempt home improvement themselves now than they were five years ago, a survey has revealed.

The research, which was conducted by wardrobe specialist Spaceslide, found that 61 per cent are more willing to tackle DIY tasks now than in 2018.

The reason cited by 84 per cent of respondents was to save money. This bucks the recently reported general trend of preferring to bring in a tradesman in order to save time.

Three quarters of Spaceslide’s respondents would still steer clear of specialist jobs like electrics, plumbing and tiling.
